Futuristic Riverside Home in the Green Belt
A bold proposal for a replacement dwelling within the Green Belt and Flood Zone, designed in response to a challenging riverside setting and a client keen to explore a more playful and futuristic approach to residential architecture.
The existing house had suffered from repeated flooding, making resilience a fundamental part of the design brief. Our approach explored an elevated riverside home that responded directly to the site's flood risk, while integrating smart-home technology, energy-efficient design principles and a distinctive contemporary architectural language.
The property's remote setting, together with the varied architectural character of neighbouring riverside homes, provided an opportunity to explore a more unconventional design. The result was a futuristic, almost sci-fi interpretation of riverside living, balancing environmental considerations with the client's ambition for something individual and forward-thinking.
The project was developed at a time when high-quality architectural visualisation and virtual walkthroughs were still relatively uncommon for residential projects. Produced prior to the widespread adoption of AI-generated imagery, our visualisations allowed the client to experience and understand the proposed home in three dimensions, helping communicate both the architecture and its relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The project established a strong working relationship with the client, who subsequently appointed Live Site Studio to work with them on a further project.
