A sensitive single-storey extension to a characterful home within the Taplow Village Conservation Area, designed to enhance the way the family uses and experiences the existing house.
The extension creates a larger, light-filled kitchen with improved functionality and a stronger connection to the courtyard garden, alongside a considered reconfiguration of the existing ground-floor spaces to improve flow and everyday living.
Although the property is not listed, it holds historic significance within the local area, requiring a carefully considered response to its existing character and Conservation Area setting. The new intervention was designed with particular attention to scale, proportion and materiality, complementing the original building while creating a distinctive and welcoming contemporary space.
We successfully obtained planning permission for the extension, which has since been built and is now being enjoyed by the clients.
Our work at this beautiful property continues, with Live Site Studio currently developing proposals for other exciting proposals for this wonderful site.
