A sensitive heritage intervention to an existing home within the Berkhamsted Conservation Area, carefully balancing contemporary living with the character of the original property.
The project includes a two-storey extension, creating a new bedroom suite and walk-in wardrobe at first-floor level, with a games room and bar at ground floor. The new spaces have been designed to strengthen the connection between the house and garden, opening directly onto a newly landscaped outdoor area.
Alongside the extension, we developed a comprehensive design for the rear garden and secured planning permission for the wider transformation. This includes considered alterations to the existing building, new landscaping and the introduction of a pergola to help redefine the relationship between the house and garden.
The result is a cohesive indoor-outdoor environment that respects the heritage and character of the existing property while creating a welcoming garden sanctuary designed to be enjoyed throughout the year.
